FINANCIAL. INACTIVE MARKET Early Gains Lost as Selling Develops—Domestic Group Weak. BY F. H. RICHARDSON. Bpecial Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, June 24.—Bonds trend- ed lower today in fairly active trad- ing. The market opened with a firm tone, as a result of the reduction in the re- discount rate -of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Bill rates were @lso reduced, thus bringing the whole structure of official money rates closer to the open market rates, which have been considerably under the of- ficial rates for some time. Time money quotations also drogped. The immediate effect of this was to push United States Government long- term bonds 'i te '3 point higher. This strength continued uunnr most of the morning. but then selling developed when Washington advices indicated that there was & good chance that the Garner and Wagner relief bills, - propriating some $2,500,000,000 for State loans and the financing of public works for relieving unemployment, | | | UNITED STATES.
