By the Associated Press, NEW YORK, May 4. —Pressure against the American dollar lightened somewhat in the foreign exchange mar- kets today, but Federal Government bonds were again depressed. Selling of the United States Govern- ment obligations was attributed by dealers to the shattering of the eco omy bill in the House yesterday. Three of the Treasury issues declined more than a full point, or $10 per bond of $1,000 par value. Although selling of the American dollar was smaller than it was yester- y, several of the European gold cur- rencies continued to advance. The French franc sagged & little, then stiffened, getting up to 3.947 cents, up 1, point for cable transfers. The Belgian franc, however, was lower. The Holland florin continued its advance at the expense of the dollar, reaching 40.62 cents, up .02 of 1 cent, and the Swiss franc rose .01% of a cent to 19.50. These currencies were at levels which would make gold exports from New York profitable. The British pound sterling was also higher, getting up 1 cent to $3.673 for cables, The stock market continued slow decline. PLANS THR.EE EVENTS Southeast Community Center to Present Program.
