WASHINGTON’S FAMILY GENEALOGY IS TRACED Mrs. Eleanor Washington Howard, last survivor of the Washington family born at Mount Vernon, traced the genealogy of her ancestors in an ad- dress yesterday at Bicentennial exer- cises at American University. There are 22 male descendants still living, she said, 12 of whom served in | the World War. At present, four are serving in the Government service. Mrs. Howard, a resident of Alexan- dria, Va., labeled the cherry tree story a “myth” and told a “true” story which, she said, exemplified Washington's | character even better. The story had to do with Washington's taming of a | pet horse admired by his mother. When | the beast died beneath him, she said, Washington explained the whole inci- dent to his mother.
