SANTA MARIA, Calif, December | 29.—The body of Garcner Hale, 38, one of America's foremost young paint- ers of murals and frescoes, was found yesterday at the bottom ‘of a 500-foot precipice 40 miles south of Santa Maria, where his automobile had plunged from a highway. Hale'’s body, apparently catapulted | from the machine as it plunged into | the canyon, was lying about 30 feet from the wreck. Authorities estimat- ed he had been dead about six hours. Ham- | ilton escaped while working with a de- | tall. He had been driving a truck within the farm grounds. Hamilton was reported seen last night in this city after he had entirely changed clothes. This is the third prisoner to escape from the penal farm | since it was established early in the Spring.
