Not long afterward Preston was | awarded the New York Music Week As- | sociation’s gold medal, baritone division, | for excellency of voice. It brought a telegraph offer to sing and Preston rushed to the studio. Keith McLeod, now musical supervisor of N. B. C, was the station accom- panist. Preston’s acquaintance with McLeod resulted in co-operative song writi 1‘he1r first collaborative effort was * ng Prairie Rose,” a song dedicated to No: Dakota.
