Special Dispatch to The Star, NEW YORK, June 15.—Today's curb market was a quiet affair with few im- portant price fluctuations. There were issues here and there throughout the list where professional traders kept things going, but there was not much evidence that they were getting any- 'where. One active issue was United Light & Power A, which made a small gain. 'This stock was firm all last week on reports of improved earnings. Electric Bond & Share gained a shade above 36 in a long string of sales. American Gas Electric was steady on a comparatively larger turnover. Other utilities were active. Among the oils Cities Service sold a shade under its Saturday close. Stand- ard Oll of Indiana was slightly higher. Vacuum gained nearly a point at one time and then eased. De Forest Radio was another of the isolated spots of activity, and its price ranged more than a point higher at 5%5. ‘The company's position has been co: siderably improved as a result of Supreme Court decision in patent lti- gation. Parker Rustproof was turned over in fair volume for a small gain. ‘The stock is an active mover. General Theaters Equipment pre- ferred gained about a point at one time and then reacted. The company con- trols Fox Film and Fox Theaters. Fox [Film's_long-term contract with Cana- dian Famous Players Theaters started lamusement securities higher toda In general, the utilitles were firm, output figures for most of the impor- tant pps having shown a well main- tained increase for the first week of | June. However, Associated Gas & Elec- tric, which reported a record output for that week, was fractionally lower, un- der 17 at one time. Small gains were 'made, by American & Forel Power ‘warrants, Central States Electric, Niag- ara Hudson Power and Middle West utilities. In the motors, Cord eased & trifie in early trading and recovered. Ford, Ltd., hardened. Aviation shares were quiet. United Gas was inactive after its lively showing last week, but the price was up slightly. Appalachian Gas was ¢ Duquesne Gas was lower. Pipeline is- sues were dull. Trading corporations 'were mostly unchanged. Mine shares 'were quiet. Grain Market By the Associated Press. CHICAGO, June 15.—Price rallies in wheat late today were associated with ‘Washington reports that drought in domestic Spring-wheat territory had be- corfie worse than last year. Upturns in prices, however, were mostly fractional and were not well mainteined. Atten- tion of traders converged more on news that harvest operations were making rapid progress in Winter wheat districts, with yields in Texas and Oklahoma run- ning ' to 1 bushel an acre above the figures suggested by recent Government estimates. 3 Wheat closed unsteady, %-% cent lower, corn varying from % decline to 15 advance, oats 1;-1; off and provisions at 2 cents setback to 5 cents gain.
