Hurley will entertain a small | company informally at dinner this evening in their home, on Belmont ‘The Ambassador of Chile and Senora de Davila were hosts at dinner last evening, entertaining in compliment to the United States Ambassador to Chile, Mr. William 8. Culbertson. Others in the company were the Minister of Switzerland and Mme. Peter, the Min- ister of Denmark and Mme. Wadsted, the Minister of Panama and Senora de Arias, Assistant Secretary of State and Mrs. cis White, the director general of the Pan-American Union, Dr. Leo 8. Rowe; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh D. Auchincloss, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Sanders, Mr. Mrs. Lowell Mellef Mr. and Mrs. George Abell, Miss Evelyn Gordon and Senorita Laura Humeres of Chile, house guest of the hosts. The Belgian Ambassador, Mr. Paul May, will be the guest in whose honor Lieut. Col. and Mrs. M. Robert Gug- genheim will entertain at dinner in their residence, at Bethesda, Md., this evening. ‘The newly appointed Ambassador of Spain, Senor Salvador de Madariaga, will arrive in New York Thursday from Cuba on the Cristobal Colon. The diplomat will spend a day in New York, safling_on the same boat for Spain, where he will be for several weeks be- fore returning to this country to take up his new duties. ‘The former Ambassador and Senora de Padilla and their family also will sail on the Cristobal Colon. Mme. Wu, wife of the Chinese Min- ister, was the guest in whose honor Mrs. William Fitch Kelley entertained at luncheon today. The other guests were Senora de Davila, wife of the Am- bassador of Chile; Mrs. James S. Parker, Mrs. Wilbur J. Mrs. Ernest Lee Jahncke, wife of the Acting Secretary of the Navy, and their daughter, Miss Adele Jahncke, have ar- rived in England, where they will spend several weeks. Mrs. Jahncke and her daughter will be presented to the first Court of St. James this season in Buckingham Palace. The Undersecretary of the Treasury and Mrs. Ogden L. Mills will open their house at Woodbury, Long Island, the first week in June. Preparations are completed for the | opening tomorrow of the National Capi- | tal Horse Show Association’s annual Spring meet at Bradley Farms, its picturesque show grounds.
