A demand for modernization of houses, always present, has been stimulated by the President's Emerg>ncy Committee for Employment, which urges renova- tion and remodeling of th-usands of homes this year. Permits for additions, alterations ‘and repairs in approxi- mately 300 cities show an increase of 5 per cent in January over December permits. This will increase employ- ment in the building trades. “The four-phace business cycle is following its usual course,” said Mr. Bodfish, “prosperity. crisis, depression and recovery. This year's Spring months will be definitely in the recov- ery phase. Prosperity will come back slowly, steadily, naturally. We cannot expect boom times in a couple of months, as some happy warriors per- petually predict.” Hydroplanes are used between Vera Cruz and Havana on the new Mexico City-Havana air service.
