THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, D. C. WEDNESDAY. MARCH 11. 1931. . The Truth About Vine-Glo % and Fruit Industries, Ltd There has been a great deal of discussion about Fruit Industries, Ltd. and its product, Vine-Glo. . 'The following statement should go a long way toward clearing up many misconceptions which ' exist in the public mind regarding both Fruit Industries, Ltd. and its product, Vine-Glo. Fruit Industries, Ltd. is an organization of - grape growers operating under the California Grape Control Plan. This group of growers rep- resents the most substantial and longest estab- lished factors of the industry. Fruit Industries, Ltd. is engaged in the manufacture and sale of grape products. Vine-Glo, the trade name for a product of Fruit Industries, Ltd., is the pure juice of various ' varieties of wine-grapes. 'The sale of Vine-Glo is not a violation of any ‘law. Section 29 of the National Prohibition Act permits its use in your home. Its sale is a sincere attempt to solve a serious agricultural problem, a problem which must be solved under the restricting conditions of existing laws. Vine-Glo is not a ballyhoo for wine. It is not an attempt to promote the production or sale of alcoholic beverages. It is not an attempt to increase the consumption of alcohol in the home. It would be impossible for us materially to increase such consumption. If our entire inventory of grape juice were brought into homes and allowed to ferment into wine the total alcohol developed would be approxi- mately only 560,000 gallons. This is only 22/100ths of 1% of the government’s own esti- mate of alcohol consumed illegally at present, a total of 249,000,000 gallons. From this it is evident that our aim is not to capture or ex- tend the present illegitimate alcohol market. Our plan is to take a product ‘that has always been available on the farm and place it within the reach of the city dweller. Our aim is to provide an outlet for the annual surplus of wine-grapes in California. Vine-Glo is offered in eight varieties: Port, Virginia Dare, Tokay, Muscatel, Claret, Riesling, Burgundy, and Sauterne. It carries - an absolute guarantee of satisfaction or the purchase price will be refunded. Its distribution is legal, orderly and atall times under the closest observatien and stnctest control. Its production is under constant scieliti.'f'i'é'{' supervision supported by extensive research and testing. The product has been perfected to a hlgh degree and is available the year round. Vine-Glo, in eight varieties, is for sale in Washington, Baltimore, and nearby suburbs. Many deliveries have been made in these com- - munities. Five gallon keg=$16.50. Ten gallon keg—$29.50.
