Total property damages re- sulting from forest fires in the Unifed States last year ran to some $102,000,000, not including unde- termined damage to watersheds, young gmw wild life, recrestional areas and the like. A large pro= portion of these fires was caused by carelessness, and could have been avoided. If fire losses are to be kept down, the public must co-operate.
