EAGLE VINGS CLLB ENGAGES TEAGER Howard Behr, Licensed Air Transport Pilot, Will Give Flying Lessons. The Eagle Wings Flying Club, organ- ized by the Women's City Club, has engaged Howard Behr, licensed air transport pilot of Washington-Hoover Afrport, as flying instructor and has | ‘begun flight training, it was announced yesterday by Mrs. Lyle B. Steever, presi- dent of the club. The club has acquired a training plane. Though training flights dre made away from the city, students are picked up at Washington-Hoover Afr- port and flown to an instruction field several miles away. ‘The flying club offers first-class flying instruction not only to members of the club but to Washington men and women not affiliated with the organization. E. James Francis, C. Newell Atkinson and Lieut. Kenneth M. Uglow, Army Reserve, have registered. with the club for transport pilots’ flying course. Registrations are being received for the club's second ground school course of 24 lectures, with Lieut. Louis M. Rawlins, jr., Maryland National Guard Alr Corps, as instructor. Miss Amelia Earhart will be the club’s est of honor and speaker at a | juncheon in the Women's City Club Monday, December 1. The use of radio for aviation has shown a tremendous increase during the past fiscal year, according to the annual report of W. D. Terrell, chief of the Radio Division of the Depart- ment of Commerce, made public yes- terday. Licenses have been issued to 66 aero- nautical stations, and construction per- mits have been issued for 23 ‘more, which will make 89 aeronautical radio stations in operation within a short time, Mr. Terrell reported. Last year there were 97 planes equipped with radio apparatus, not including Army and Navy planes.
