He was graduated from Fort Scott College, Kans., from which he took the bachelor of arts degree with distinction. He was appointed in 1891 to a position in the Department of Labor under Carroll D. Wright when he first came to Wash- ington and had remained in the depart- ment ever since, Mr. Kerr is widely known in the Capital for his work in the Young Men's Christian Association and as an active member of the Foundry Methodist Episcopal Church. He was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent of the school at his church and was & charter member and past president of the Foundry Men'’s Club. Subsequently he was treasurer and later recording necnury of the Y. M. C. A, board of ers, l?dea his religious affiliations, Mr. Kerr was known in educational circles of Washington, having been a teacher of mathematics in several schools here. He also was active in the tducltk)nll department of the Y. M. C. Mr, Kerr is survived by hlt widow, the -former Miss Hattie Elizabeth Peiton, Southern Michigan teacher, whom he ‘mllil:gf in 1894.
