THE EVENI MRS. GRANT RITES HELD AT ST. JOHN'S Body Is Taken by Special Car to West Point for Burial Beside Husband. TFuneral services for Mrs. Ida Honore Grant, daughter-in-law of President Grant, were held in St. John's Episco- pal Church, Sixteenth and H streets, terday in the presence of many nota- les. Rev. Leon A. Shearer, assistant rector, officlated. The body was taken car to West Point, Y., beside her husband, the late Maj. Gen. Prederick D. Grant. In attendance at the services here were Mrs, Herbert Hoover, Mrs, Edward E. Gann, sister of Vice President Curtis; District officials and high officials of the Army. Mrs. Ol’ln' long a social leader, died at her home, 1711 New Hampshire ave- nue, Priday night after a long illness. She was 76 years old. NG STAR, WASHINGTO ACHILLE M. BURKLIN DIES IN HEART ATTACK Prominent Business Man and World War Veteran Expires Suddenly at His Home. Stricken with a heart attack while asleep, Achille Mauger Burklin died early yesterday morning at his home, 3013 Cathedral avenue. Apparently in the best of health, Mr. Burklin had returned from a party at the Congres- sional Country Club Saturday night and had retired. He was awakened a few hours later by intense pain and died before the arrival of a physician who had been hastily summoned. Mr. Burklin, who was 39 years old, was one of the proprietors of Lerch’s dying and cleaning establishment on Twelfth street northwest. A son of the late Achille E. and Mrs. Mary Burklin and a native of this city, he attended the public schools here and was a grad- uate of Central High School. He was & member of the C Club of the latter institution. Later he attended George Washington University, where he be- came affiiliated with the Sigma Chi Fraternity. At_the outbreak of the World War Mr. Burklin enlisted in the Army and ‘was assigned to the Medical Corps, at- taining the rank of sergeant, and at its close he was commissioned a lieutenant in the Reserve Officers Training Corps. He was a member of Albert Pike Lodge of Masons and of the Columbia Coun- try Club. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Mae Burklin, and a son, Achille M. Burklin, Jr., he is survived by a brother, Robert M. Burklin of this city, and two sisters, Mrs. Nina B. Doolittle of Buffalo, N. and Mrs. Sallie J. Graham of Wasl ington. Funeral services are to be held at his residence tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock. They will be conducted by Rev. Charles T. Warner of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, where the family at- tends. Bolen, 59 years old, for & number of years widely known here in church and business circles, died at his home, 641 Lexington place northeast, yesterday after a long iliness. He had been superintendent of the Metropolitan Baptist Church Sunday school for the past 22 years and was formerly treasurer of the church for 14 years. He was a member of the Lafay- ecu Lodge of Masons. Mr, Bolen was for some time assistant superintendent of the local office of the Metropolitan Life Insurance’ Co. and had held several fither positions with it. He retired recently, due to ill health. He was married to Miss Jennie Lee Carter of Culpeper Co., Va, in 1901. He is survived by his widow and a daughter, Mrs. John W. Bredehoft, the latter of New York.
