AUTO INSPECTION DRIVE 1S FAVORED Chamber of Commerce Com- mittee Recommends Official Campaign in District. Organization under District govern- ment auspices, of an official campaign for inspection of awtomobile brakes and headlights was recommended yes- terday by the committee on police, fire protection and public safety of the ‘Washington Chamber of Commerce, meeting in the Homer Building. The recommendation of the group will be presented to the full chamber tonight, meeting in the Mayflower Hotel. The plan of the committee calls for & “save-a-life” drive, extending over a period of several weeks, during which time facilities for quick and efficient inspection of brakes and lights would be made available to all District motor- ists. The proposal will be discussed at tonight's meeting by John J. Hall of the National Bureau of Casualty and Surety Underwriters of New York, who has conducted several campaigns of this character. The new Board of District Commis- stoners_will be welcomed at the meet- ing. All three members have signified their intention of being present. The principal- address will be by Strickland Gillilan, humorist and au- thor, who will speak on the subject, “Do People Use Their Brains and Why Not?” Col. E. G.
