Wagner at the instance of Sheriff Luther Pan-| nett, who charged them with conspiracy | to deliver parcels to Lloyd Henderson, a prisoner at the county jail, against rules of the institution. - The issuing of the warrants followed | dismissal of charges brought by the wives of Henderson and Wagner against Sheriff Pannett, whom they accused of using abusive language when the wom- en called at the jail last Sunday to visit | Lloyd Henderson, serving time on a liquor charge. i The sheriff testified in court, the women insisted on delivering packages to Henderson without first depositing th® same in the jail office for inspection. and that when taey resented his action in insisting on compliance with the rules he requested them to leave. NEWPORT NEWS, Va., December 6. —Within the next few days there will arrive in France one of the most precious cargoes ever sent from the Old Dominion to Europe—6,000 hogsheads, more than 6,000,000 pounds, of tobacco, bought in America and shipped through the port of Newport News, consigned to the French Line, according to the Vir- ginia State Chamber of Commerce. Experienced shipping men say it is the record cargo of tobacco ever shipped from an American port, and it forms the entire burden of one of the chief passenger-cargo vessels of the French Line. .
