E SOC Vice President Curtis Entertains Son- in-Law, Maj. Sunday. HE Vice President, Mr. Charles Curtis, has as his house guest his son-in-law, Maj. Charles P. George of Fort Sill, Okla., who has been in New York attend- ing the National Horse Show. Maj. George was in command of the Ameri- can team which competed for the In- ternational Trophy. Secretary Hyde Makes Brief Visit in Missouri. The Secretary of Agriculture, Mr. Arthur M. Hyde, is at his home in Trenton, Mo,, for a short time before going to Kansas City, where he will deliver an address Tuesday. The Sec- retary is expected to return to the Capital the middle of the week. The Ambassador of Cuba and Senora de Ferrara were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Walter R. BOY SLAYER BARES LONG CRIME STORY Youth Confesses While Facing Charge of Murdering Officer. By the Associated Press. SPOKANE, Wash.,, November 16.— Robert M. Landis, 16, who confessed a long list of criminal activities after being arrested for the murder Tuesday of Roy Fordyce, Spokane police detec- tive, turned silent yesterday on the ad- vice of his attorney. Landls, who said he was the son of a raflroad conductor living in Minne- apolis, yesterday admitted he was wanted in Minnesota for robbery, vio- lating parole and for shooting a drug store manager, but refused to answer further questions when A. F. McKevitt, his atlorney. cautioned him against talking. The elder Landis was reported to have left the bedside of his sick wife in order to help his son arrange a defense. Police said they expected young Landis to plead insanity. An alienist who ex- amined him yesterda; said he appeared sane. Charles Dawes of Grand Forks, N. Dak., Landis’ companion, was charged with being an accessory.
