Costello, in charge of the prosecution, said that “investigation discloses that the Pantages case is a mass of falsi- , ties” and that one defense witness would be placed in custody to answer charges of falsifying under oath. “This witness,” Costello declared, “swore under oath that he had seen the crash. We know that he did not” ‘The crash referred to by Costello was that between Mrs. Pantages' limousine and a small sedan driven by Juro Ro- kumoto, a Japanese gardener, who died later in a hospital. Mrs. Pantages Was accused of being intoxicated at the time and responsible for the accident. Accused Witness Not Named. ‘The identity of the witness facing perjury charges was not revealed by Costello.
