FINANCIAL. CONVERTIBLE BOND LIST SHOWS GAINS thber and Tire Issues Lose Ground—Foreign Dollar Group Quiet. BY CHARLES SPEARE. Special Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, August 19.—Trans- actions in bonds today were con- centrated in a few of the prominent conventibles, of which blocks changed | hand, with new high Prlce.s for the two telephone issues of 41, per cent. » These bonds rose from 6 to 9 points, making the advance in the last few months in the American Telephone convertibles 98 points and in the Inter- rational Telephone bonds approximately 75 points. At the same time, Aichin- son convertibles, which were also higher today, have had a rise of 50 points. This is a performance such as the bond market has never before ‘witnessed. Other convert'bles were quiet and {rregular, Commercial Investment ‘Trust 5',s, became quiet and rose 2!z points. General Public Service 5l3s gained a point. On the other hand. American I. G. Chemical 5';s and American International 5!2s were both .a point lower and Philadelphia & Reading Coal & Iron 6s had a similar climb. Kreuger & Toll 5s were slightly better. ‘The rubber and tire 5 per cent issues lost ground. Local tractions were easier where the surface lines were affected, with the Brooklyn Manhattan 6s show- ing about a point recovery.
