Dr. Thomas Dyer Mudd, 66 years old, for 35 years a practicing physician in this city, died at his residence, 1328 Good Hope road southeast, yesterday, after a long illness. He maintained an active practice here until he became ill some months ago. He was a native of Maryland. | Dr. Mudd 1s survived by his widow, | Mrs. Amelia B. Mudd; three sons, Dr. Richard Dyer Mudd of Detroit; Thomas Paul Mudd and Robert L. Mudd of this city, and a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence A. Kelly of California. He also leaves two | grandchildren. He was graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Baltimore. He had been a member of the Medical Society of the District of “Columbia throughout his practice here. Brickenstein, 57 years oid, well known patent attorney and mem- ber of the law firm of Byrnes, Town- send & Brickenstein, died early to- day at Garfield Hospital following an iliness of several weeks. Mr. Bricken- stein, whose residence was at Colum- bia road and California avenue, had been a patient ai the hospital since January 1. He underwent an opera- tion recently, from which he failed to rally. Mr. Brickenstein, a native of Bethle- hem, Pa., attended the Nazareth Hall Academy and Maravian College, where he prepared for Princeton. He grad- uated from the latter institution with the class of '85, coming here imme- diately afterward to study law at George ‘Washington University. On completion of his law course, Mr. Brickenstein entered the Patent Office, later becoming chief of its board of ex- | aminers. In 1908 he joined the law firm of which he was a partner at the time of his death, with offices at 918 F street. Mr. Brickenstein was a member of the Cosmos and Chevy Chase Clubs here, as well as of the Chemist Club of New York and the American Chem- ical Society.
