Boswell, 58, of | 928 Maryland avenue northeast died | from cerebral hemorrhage at 9:30 | o'clock in the operating room. According to his wife, Dr. Boswell had been complaining of feeling ill} | for several weeks, but had not divulged his condition to close associates with whom he came in dally contact. Mrs. Boswell said her husband had a par-/ ticularly hard day yesterday, having made trips to the hospital since 7, o'clock in the morning. He had driven his patient, Leslie Bell of 2216 First street, to the hospital to administer an anesthetic. A few min- utes after arriving he complained to attending physicians of a pain. Shortly after he became dizzy and collapsed, dying about 15 minutes later. Attempt Made to Revive Him. Dr. L. S. Savage of Sibley Hospital and other physicians administered oxy- | gen in an attempt to revive the strick- en doctor, Dr. Boswell's patient was operated upon by Dr. F. X. McGovern. ‘The operation, a minor one, was suc- cessful. An ex-president of the Medical So- ciety of the District of Columbia, Dr. Boswell was one of the most widely known practitioners of internal medi- cine in Washington. During his long years of service here, he had built up an_extensive practice. | One of his fellow physicians, remark- ing about his alw cheerful nature | and readiness to lend a helping hand, said Dr. Boswell had more friends, per- haps, in the medical profession than any other local physician. He undoubt- sacrificed his health to his pro- fession, his friends said. Born April 21, 1879, in Charles County, Md., Dr. Boswell had made his home m Washington since youth. He studied medicine at Columbian Uni- ity, now George Washington Uni- versity, from which he received his degree of doctor of medicine in 1894, Since then he had been practicing con- stantly in this city, attaining eminence in_his profession.
