0872 1S NEEDED l BY UNION MISSION| Appeals for Christmas Funds' for Charity Will Be Mailed Tonight. With an urgent need for $9,872 by | New Year day, the Central Union Mis-' slon, official charity crganization of the Protestant churches of the District, to- night will put into the mails the first batch of its appeals for funds to defray its annual Christmas expenses and to comgplete its regular operating expense budget, John S. Bennett, superin- tendent, said today. The funds which the mission will strive to collect are needed, Mr. Ben- nett sald, if the annual Christmas tree party, which is conducted on the stage of Keith’s Theater with the assistance of Mrs. Coolidgs herself, is to be the same happy affair which the city’s poor children have come to look for during the past years. Although 1,400 “kiddie bags” have been made for filling with gifts by individuals and organizations throughout the city, the mission must be prepared to fill at its own expense a small percentage of the bags which cach year are returned to the mission, unfilled.
