JOSEPHINE COOPER, 90, DIES AT HOME HERE Woman Came Through Union Lines in Civil War to Get Married. Mrs. Josephine Cooper, 90 years old, widow of George H. Cooper, Union Army veteran, died at her residence, 1132 Pifth street, yesterday after a brief illness. She was a native of War- renton, Va., but had resided in this city since shortly after the Civil War. Mrs. Cooper heard the first gun fired at the battle of Bull Run. In 1864 she came through the lines on a pass to | washington and was married to Mr. Cooper, a Union soldier, who enlisted at the beginning of the war in the 5th Wisconsin Regiment and who was the first volunteer from Beloit College. She had resided in this city continuously since she came to Washington in 1864. She saw President Lincoln's funeral procession here and had witnessed every inaugural since that of Lincoln. She leaves two daughters, Miss Lo- {rena Cooper of this city and Mrs. George Reinhardt of Lynn, Mass. two | sons, William H. Cooper of Washington and John S. Cooper of Richmond, Va.; ‘,.'tnsls(rr.
