26 % NEETING 10 FAVE FANLY EROUPS Right Rev. H. L. Burleson and Tkree Brothers to Sit in Episcopal Convention. Among the interesting incidental fea- tures of the Forty-ninth Triennial Gen- eral Convention of the Episcopal Church which will assemble here October 10, will be the attendance of family groups in more or less official capacity. Thus, Right Rev. Beverly Dandridge Tucker, Bishop of Southern Virginia, will sit in the House of Bishops in close proximity to his son, Right Rev. Henry St. George Tucker, Bishop of Virginia. Right Rev. Hugh L. Burleson will also sit in the House of Bishops, while three of his brothers, all ordained clergymen, will be active in other capacities at the con- vention. And then Right Rev. Alexan- der Mann, Bishop of Pittsburgh, will sit across the hall in the House of Bishops from his brother, Right Rev. Cameron Mann, Bishop of South Florida. Cameron Mann, a native of New York, also the native State of Alexan- der Mann, is the former Bishop of South Dakota, in which post he served from 1901 to 1913, when he was traas- terred to his present Diocese of South Florida. _Alexander Mann was rector of several prominent churches in New York and New Jersey prior to becom- ing rector of Trinity Church, Boston, in 1905, and between that year and 1923 when he was elected Bishop of Pittsburgh he declined election to sev- eral bishoprics He has been a clerical deputy to every general convention since 1904 and was president of the House of Deputies at the four general conven- tions of 1913, 1916, 1919 and 1922. The convention of 1925 found him a mem- b.r of the House of Bishops and no longer eligible to the presidency of the lower house. Bishop Cameron Mann has under his Jurisdiction that portion of the State of Florida which is embraced in the popular Winter resorts of the State. A third distinguished bishop who will si: in the upper house at gene convention is Right Rev. Paul Matthews, Bishop of New Jersey. Bishop Mat- thows’ see city is Princeton. Among the most notable of those who will be in attendance upon the convention will be Rev. i M. Davis, domestic secretary of the de- partment of missions of the church and secretary of the general conven- tion. A Californian by birth, the first years of his ministry were spent as rector of St. Paul's Church, Sacra- mento. Later he took up missionary work in Missouri, in 1889; became senior canon of Christ Church Cathe- dral, St. Louis, and in 1896 dean of thot cathedral. In 1921 Dean Davis was called to Iiew York to assume ju- risdiction over the domestic missions of the church, in which place he still remains. Raymond F. Barnes, who will sit as a member of the House of Deputies from the Diocese of Long Island, is a prominent business man and financier in Brooklyn and is treasurer of the Dio- cese of Long Island. Dr. Josiah A. Cowles, who will - resent the Diocese of Los Angeles the convention, is a prominent Cali- fornia physician and has long been as- sociated actively as a layman with the work of the church.
