24 CARDS ATTACKING SITH AR SEIZED Postal Officials Hold Anony-‘ mous Matter Barred Under | Libel Rule. By the Associated Press. BALTIMORE, Md. September 11.— | Approximately 100 post cards attacking Gov. Smith have been seized in the post | office here under an order of Postmaster Benjamin F. Woelper, jr. while n\\'nlt-‘ ing general orders from Post Office offi- | cials at Washington. Some of the cards, Mr. Woelper said, were delivered before they came to the attention of postal clerks, but once their | nature was discovered every employe was ordered to be on the alert. | Although it was reported general or- ders had been issued at Washington. thev had not been received here when the | seizure was made, but the postmast acted ona ruling by O. N. Forrest. !I“Ft ant district attorney and George E. Brl!l chief postal inspector at this office. that the cards violated regulations forbidding the mailing of “scurrilous” and libelous matter.
