BALTIMORE, July 26.-—Deposits of the mutual savings banks in Mary- dand, all but two of which are in Bal- timore, showed a sharp drop of approxi- mately $17,000,000 on June 30, com- pared with the same date last year, ac- cording to the report of the State bank commissioner. Since January such de- posits increased $7,335,255. ~ Assets of the savings banks amounted to $206,- 044,560, an increase of $8,170,130 in six months. A year ago they totaled $188,- 365,824, In face of the sharp increase in savings deposits, there was a drop of $24,346,040 in State bank deposits since January, The decline in the latter wast largely seasonal and due to the fact that the commercial banks at the end of the year usually carry large tempo- rary deposits connected with bond ma- turities and the like. Compared with & year ago, deposits of the State banks | increased about $22.000,000, now total- | ing $372,304,468. ‘Total loans of the State banks decreased $8,839,485 in- six months, MOTOR WHEEL CORPORATION.
