NEW YORK, May 25.—The Stock Market moved forward again today but not uniformly. Some groups were strong as a whole. In others one or two stocks would be picked out to be| | bid up. The rest of the list, and this ! most of the time included the railroad | shares, acted uncertainly. ‘The Street professed gratification at the reduction in brokers' loans revealed in the weekly Federal Reserve state- ment. It was the first decrease in 11 weeks and reflected the recent liquida- tion. It will not take long to make up this falling off and to set another new peak if thc market keeps on ad- vancing. but that point is not stressed | in the gossip today. Money in Good Supply. Money renewed at 6 per cent, but was said to be in good supply. There | was no change in the quotation for time money, either. Leadership today went to the inde- pendent motors and _the coppers. Studebaker was prominént among the former at & new high for the year at 82, representing the efforts of the powerful sponsorship now enlisted in behalf of that stock. Next Chrysler was taken up and advanced 2 points and then Nash fell in line. Higher quotations were seen also for Hudson and for Packard. The old rumors of consolidation were taken down from the | shelves and dusted off in connection | with the buying of the motors. A better case could be made out for the strength in the coppers. Owing to large foreign demand. the export price of the metal has been raised !4 of a cent, while the domestic price was quo- ted at 143, an advance of l3. Cerro de Pasco was the favorite today. At 75 it was at the highest since the stock was listed in 1917. Calument and Ari- zona, Kennecott and the rest gained sympathetically. Mail Order Shares Bought. The mail order stocks were actively jbought. Sears-Roebuck was taken in large blocks at steadily rising prices. Montgomery Ward went along to a less- er extent. Sugar stocks held their gains of the day before and there was good support, but important price changes in the oils. Against these advances was the ir- regularity in the rank and file of in- dustrials. The airplane stocks moved over what was for them a narrow range. Standard stocks such as Allied Chem- ical, General Electric, American Tele- : | phone and Consolidated Gas were either L u‘b‘nfl'unged or lower.
