Clark, sr., for many years a practicing lawyer here, residing at 1464 Havard street, died of a cerebral hemorrhage Saturday night. He was 65 vears old. Mr, Clark was horn in Jefferson City, Mo., but came to this city with his par- ents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John B. Clark, when a young boy. He was edu- cated in the public schools here. Later, | while employed in the mineral division of the General Land Office, he was graduated in medicine from the old Columbian College. He afterwards stud- | fed mineral law, in which field he spe- clalized, after severing his connections | with the General Land Office. He had handled many cases involving intricate and important questions per- taining to mineral law and the public land laws. In 1897 he collaborated in the publication of “The Mineral Law Digest.” Mr. Clark is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie Pumphrey Clark, and a son, Horace F. B, BAYLEY ‘GALLED BY DEATH Veteran of Civil and Spanish- American Wars Was 82. Funeral Tomorrow. "Rear Admiral Warner Baldwin Bayley, U. 8. N, retired, veteran of the Civil and ‘Spanish-Ameriéan Wars, died in his sleep at his residence in the West- moreland Apartments yesterday. . He was 82 years old. He had been in fail- ing heaith for several years. Admiral Bayley was a member of.the naval vxnmll\in to 1005. He also had served as fleet engineer of |hE North Atlantic Fleet in 1899 and 1900 and was inspector of machinery in the Navy from the latter year to 1903. He was placed on the rétired list Apru 18, 1906. Advanced for Battle Conduct. The officer was adwanced two num- | bers in rank for “eminent and con- spicuous conduct in battle” while at- tached to the Massachusetts during the Spanish-American War. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annette Williamson Bayley, and a son, Lient. W. W. Bayley, N, retyred, residing at Morristown, N. J. Born in Baldwinsville, N. Y., Admiral Bayley was appointed an assistant en- gineer in the Navy in 1864, He was advanced to the grade of chief engineer in. 1894; and in 1889 was promoted to lieutenant commander, commander in 1901 and captain in 1905. Served on Many Ships. He had served on the Massachusetts, Miantonomoh, 'De Soto, Madawaska, Franklin, Ticonderoga, Saugus, Ajax, Lancaster, Powhatan, Monocacy and other ships. He also had served on special duty, including duty in the Bureau of Stenm Engineering and serv- ice for the Fish Commission. Admiral Bayley was a member of the Army and Navy Club here and of the New. York Yacht Club. Funeral services will be conducted ln St. Margaret's Episcopal Church tomor- row morning at 11 o'clock. Interment, with full military honors, will be in Arlington Cemetery. .
