The industrials moved definitely upward, agd in some instances good sized advances were recorded in the rails. At intervals in the afternoon realiz- ing sales had the effect of reducing the early gains, but new leaders were taken up when the forenoon favorites showed signs of hesitation. The volume of busi- ness fell off appreciably in the after- noon, but the trend continued higher. The close was comparatively quiet.
