CUMBERLAND, Md., November 28 (®).—Stopping only when it reached the building of the First National Bank, a fire last Saturday night swept through the busin section of Rom- ney, W. Va., destroying a block of five buildings on Main street. The Fire De- partments of Piedmont and Keyser were called out to subdue the flames. The buildings of an automobile com- pany, two restaurants, a clothing store, poolroom and barber shop, were gutted. The fire is supposed to have originated in the flat occupled by Jennings Oates and his family over the Atlantic & Pacific Tea store. No estimate of the damages has been received. THERIES A IDESIK FOR AlLIL SPACES IKINDS of PEOIPLIE and dwwawz@ Puiced OW much nicer it would be if every member of the family could have his own desk. Accounts would be where they belonged, letters where the owner could find them—no more mixing of everybody’s valuable papers. If bedrooms will allow, let every one have his individual desk. Otherwise provide a desk with ample space for the great amount of use that it will receive. Desks make ideal gifts at Christmas time, and there is hardly an end to the variety shown at the Lifetime Furniture Store now. Here you will find desks of noble qualities in goodly numbers at tempting Christmas prices.
