This notice is posted within the ehurch precints: “No confetti is to be thrown within the church precincts at weddings,” and with the view of in- suring obedience to the rule it is stated that “a special fee of half a crown (about 60 cents) will be charged at each wedding, which will be re- turned if no confetti is thrown in the church or on the church paths.” The notice adds: “This fine, if it has to be imposed, will be given to the person who has to sweep the con- fetti.” SAYS “ALL IS VANITY.” Clergyman's Summary of Condi- tions in Present Age. Correspondence of the Assoclated Press. BIRMINGHAM. — This .is an age which can be summed up in the words “All is vanity,” believes the Rev. H. B. Streeter, Canon of Hereford. From inspection of “the ordinary novel, the ordinary magazine articl: —the literature which reflects the gen- eral outlook.” Canon Streeter con- cludes that the world is morally bank- rupt. “The problem is not whether Chris- tianity will survive, but whether civ- flization will survive,” the canon told a conference of churchmen. “I see mo hope whatever for our modern civilization, unless scmehow we can let loose fresh life, which [ hope will be creative in art, politics and science, as well as in what is technically ~ called religion and morals.” | - | Minorca is the name of an island in | the Balearic group and of a breed of | hens. | had remonstr Pupil Breaks Nose Of Teacher in Fight Over Flag Salute By the Assoclated Press. 7 .
