" RECEIVER DEMANDED FOR $200,000 CONCERN New England Engineer Brother- hood Corporation Charged With Illegal Operations. By the Associated Press. PORTLAND, Me., September 7.— Receivership for the New Englahd Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Securities Corporation, organized in Maine and capitalized at $200.000, was asked in a bill in equity filed in the Bupreme Court here yesterday. Illegit- imate and illegal operations of this concern were alleged by the plaintiffs, Isabella Hetherington, M. Astley Hetherington and Helen H. Towle, stockholders of Oakland, Me. Hearing has been ordered before Chiet Justice Wilson Friday morning. The bill in equity seeks injunctions and declares that the Brotherhood em- braces in its membership nearly 90, 000 locomotive engineers of the coun- try; that the Brotherhood Investment Co. is a corporation managed and con- trolled by this Brotherhood for the purpose of engaging in financial ac- tivities throughout the country, and that the organization of the Securities Corporation, defendant in the equity bill, was procured or brought about by persons connected with the Brother hood of Locomotive Engineers and the Brotherhood Investment Co. “‘ostensib- ly for a large number and variety of fancitul, vistonary, absurd and utterly impractical purposes of finance.” ‘The real object, according to the al THE EVENING STAR, WASHINGTON, legations “was rather to enable un- scrupulous individuals connected with the Brotherhood and the Investment company to accumulate and control a large sum of money to be used in furthering various schemes 1in the name of the Brotherhood, but wholly outside its proper field of activity.” — Lithuania Expels 3. Reporters. KOVNO, Lithuania. September 7 ().—Three members of the staff of two German newspapers were ex- pelled from Lithuania yesterday after having refused to leave. The coun- try's hospitality was refused on the ground that “they took an active art in internal politics, followed a Folk‘.y extremely hostile to Lithuania and excited one part ‘?f the popula- tion against the other.
