FRANKLIN, La, August §.— Events moved more swiftly here to- day as the trial of Mrs. Ada Bonner Lebouef, Dr. Thomas E. Dreher and James Beadle for the murder of James J. Lebouef neared its close Counsel for Mrs. Lebouef and Dr. Dreaher announced last night that they had completed their case and the defense of James Beadle, the member of the trio who broke away from the others, was all that remain- ed hefore the attorneys started their final arguments. Dr. Dreher relinquished his seat in the witness chair last night after he had been questioned for seven hours. His story of the shooting of the Morgan City power man, whose ob- jection to a love affair between the doctor and his wife is alleged to have been the underlying reason for the shooting, was virtually the same as one told by Mrs. Lebouef while was on the stand. Dr. Drehe he and Beadle met Lebouef both parties were boatriding and that after cursing, Lebouef fired two shots at him. Beadle, he said, answered With two loads of buckshot and Le- bouef fell dead. The doctor said he did not watch while Beadle cut the victim’s body open and tied the iron weights to the head and feet. “Testimony of a civil engineer, calied to the stand after Dr. Dreher left it. about the dividing line between St. Maryp and St. Martin Parish, revealed a new angle in the case. The engi- neer sald the slaying occurred near the St. Martin line, but he could not say it occurral in the other parish. For the first time since the trial started, Mrs. Dreher was absent from the court yesterday while her husband testified. ~Mrs. Lebouef wept softly | while her alleged lover told of the shooting of her husband.
