During his discussion of the airport subject today ted piainly that his attitude is virtually the same. President Approves Airports. 1t is the hope of the President that municipal awrports will be established not only in the Capital, but also in all the larger cities of the country that kave not as vet provided one. He contends t is important that Washington should have such a port and that it should be one of the relay stops for the Atlantic ¢ In this connection, th it be known that he s y s0-operate in any way possible to bring about the materialization of such a he intends to do in the 3 ng the influe his office in behalf of establishing Washington's airport the sident did not indicate, while discussing the subject today. It was malle very plain by him, however, that he had hoped Bolling Field could be made available for this purpose. At least for a period long enough for the Commissioners of the District of Columbia to give the mat- ter of a permanent location thorough study. It was evident that he has been in communicaiion with authori- ties back in Washington resarding the use of a part of Bolling Field as ah airport for the District. And he indicated that he glad to know that the War Department has agreed to let the District use his air field even for a limited period. Has Received Advices. Although the President has re- ceived some advices from Waghington on the airport subject, it is doubtful if he is very well posted as to the ex- act availability -of the various 2 nent sites which have been proposed. In fact he was represented as admit- ting that he did not know encugh about the sites’being sugzested tor a permanent airport to pass mature judgment on them. He knows wherc Gravelly Point is locatad, as well as the old Benning race track and Hoover Field, but he did not know enough about these places in connec- tion with their availability for air- port purposes to discuss them, More- over, the President gave the impres sion today that he is in favor of the Federal Government sharing the cost of such a project for the Capital.
