Field, 60 years old, 1237 Thirtieth street, site agent for the Treasury Department in its great pub- lic_building program, died suddenly esterday afternoon from a heart as he sat at his desk in the vising Architect of sury. eld had been feeling well until after noon, according to his but_suddenly felt ill and the Treasury relief room, where he was revived by aromatic spivits of ammor for what he thought was dizziness from indiges- tion. shortly assoclates, went to Threw Up Hands Suddenly. On returning to the fourth floor, planning to go home for the afternoon, he stopped at his desk and was talk- ing to W. M. Geddes, when suddenly he threw up his hands and collapsed from his chair onto the floor. He was dead when a physiclan from Emer- gency Hospital reached the office, and Coroner Nevitt issued a certificate of death from myocarditis. His closest friends at the Treasury did not know Mr. Fleld ever had suffered from heart trouble. Mr. Kield held large responsibility as site agent for the Treasury and was to be the principal Treasury investi- gator in picking sites for the public buildings throughout the country <hington Years With Government. Mr. Fleld had been in the service of the Government more than 35 years having entered as a clerk at the Treasury. He spent the years from 1891 to 1921 with the Treasury, be- coming site agent, and finally was transferred to the Veterans’ Bureau when much construction of hospitals was undertaken by that branch.
