10 GROUND S BROKEN FOR NEW CHURCH Grace Evangellcal Lutheran* Congregation Starts Work at Sixteenth and Varnum. Ground was broken and tarted this week on the new Grace | Jvangelical Lutheran Church, northwest corner of ‘nmomh and Varnum streets. Re Gerhard Lanski is the pastor. The contract has been let to the Arthur I. Smith Co. of this ty. Completion i promised within a year. The church will be built of Guilford zranite, of a modified Gothic type in ‘ruciform plan. The seating capacity will be approximately o \\Ilh pro- ~vision for an overflow expansion to a maximum of 750. A tower will front Sixteenth street. The complete cost of the structure now under construc- tjon will be approxima ately $200,000. Later a parish house unit will be | added. The architect is.J. W. C. Corbusier of Cleveland, Ohio. CONCORDIA ARRANGES ‘EVANGELISM’ LECTURES Dr. Vollmer of St. Louis to Direct Services Under Auspices of Men's Brotherhoods. A series of lectures on “Evangel- ism” will be conducted by Rev. Dr Philip Volimer at Concordia Lutheran Church, Twentieth and G streets, at 8 Tuesday, Wednesday and Dr. \rollmer who was formerly a professor at the Eden Theological Seminary at St. Louis, is being brought to Washington under the aus- pices of the Men's Brotherhood - of Concordia Church. His lectures on evangelism will refer to this subject as applied to the unchurched, church members and social conditions. Preceding_the lecture Tuesday the Concordia Brotherhood will hold its annual meeting and dinner. After Dr. Vollmer’s lecture, the brotherhood will hold its annual election.
