Stricken last Monday while at his desk, Mr..Galt showed some improve- ment Thursday, and physiclans said they believed he might recover, but death followed a relapse this morning. Born_in JUpperville, Va., April 27, 1881, Mr. Galt started newspaper work in Baltimore in 1900 with the Baltimore American as a reporter. Two yvears later he went to the Balti. more News. In 1909 he came to St. Paul. z For four years he wag city editor and then in 1913 became managing editor of the Dispatch and Pioneer Press, and while in late years his attention had been to the editorial page, he continued in active touch with' the news department. He was one of the first members of the American Society of News- paper Editors and has been promi nent in the work of that organiza- tion. Mr. Galt was married in 1908 to Miss Elsle Robinson Andrews of Al- bany, N. Y., and she and their two children, John Randolph and Eliza- beth Andrews, survive. TR Publisher’s Widow Dead.
