ARGENTINA'S CEREAL CROPS IN 600D SHAPE ‘Wheat Harvesting Is Intensified in North and Has Started in the South. By the Associated Pross. BUENOS AIRES, December 16.— The present general condition of the cerealsown area of Argentina was de- clared good in a report made public today by the ministry of agricuiture. The report says that the period be- tween November 15 and December 15 was marked by partial intensive rains and other meteorological phenomena that caused local damage in the cereal belt without greatly affecting it. Rains in the Pampas and the Southwest sec- tions of the Province of Buenos Aires mitigated the effects of frosts, tillage reacted favorably and the present condition may be considered good. The ministry reported that wheat harvesting has been Intensified in the Northern bélt and has started in the Southern. The harvesting was made difficult in some places by partial rains and hail but the, damage was stated to be more in quality than quantity. Harvesting of linseed suffered the samo handicaps as wheat. The linseed has been attacked by “isoca,” but dam- age from this plague will be of im- portance only if its invasion should L pread. The condition of corn was reported good, rains having been beneficial. Great activity is being shown in the Chaco and a second crop is being sown. The condition of oats, barley, rye and canary seed also was reported good. The general favorable conditions seem to be reflected in the market, which has been virtually inactive and tending toward lower prices, ——e DIVIDENDS.
