r 1 FEDERAL COUNCIL BODY MEETS SOON Executive Group to Hold First Session in Northwest in December. For the first time in its history the executive committee of the Federal Councll of Churches will meet in the Northwest, according to an announce- ment made by Rev. Samuel McCrea Cavert, general secretary. The executive committes will meet at Minneapolis on December 8, 9 and 10. It will bo the guest of the Min- neapolis Council of Churches. | The day session of the meeting, it fa explained by Mr. Cavert, will center entirely around the general theme Making Church Co-operation Real and Vital in the Community.” Evan- gelism, religious education, interna- tional relations, the church and in- dustry, race relations and prohibi- tion will all be considered as matters in which the churches can achieve greater results through co-operative | efforts. At the day sessions there will ba no set addresses, the time being de- voted to discussion of the agenda. Britisher to Speak. Miss Lucy Gardner, who was one of the organizers of the British Council on Christian Policles, Economics and Citizenship, popularly known as Copie, will be one of the speakers. She is honorary secretary of the membership | saction of the Universal Christian Con- | ference on Life and Work and is the only woman member of the British committee of the world conference on | faith and order. She is fulfilling many | speaking engagements in the United | States under the auspices of the com- | mittee on interchange of speakers and | preachers, representing the Church Peace Union, the World Alllance for International Friendship and the Fed eral Council of Churches. Bishop John M. Moore of Dallas, | chalrman of the executive| Theodore Christian- | mon of Minnesota will speak at (l\(" dinner at the opening of the sessions under the auspices of the Minneapolls Council of Churches. At the first session the church leaders will discuss “What | Ts the Present Situation”’ They will | take up the co-operative work done by the churches in the cities and States through councils of churches, through | State mission councils and similar or- | ganizations. These leaders are the | officially designated representatives of | 28 great communions, having a joint | membership of more than 22,000,000 | adult members.
