MERCHANT, DEAD ‘Widely Known Dealer Passes Away at Home of His Son at Age of 82. Hermanus G. “Mon” Thyson, 82 | vears old, widely-known Capital mer- chant, died yesterday at the residence of his son, Lieut. Comdr. Leo C. Thyson, in Chatham Courts. Mr. Thyson, who was the son of the late Paulus and Parthenia Thyson, {was assoclated for many years with his father in the Thyson general mer- chandise establishment, which was conducted by the family for approxi- mately three-quarters of a century on Seventh street on the site now occupled by King’s Palace. He enter- ed the business at an early age and later assumed charge of the place, retiring in 1906. While formerly active in a number of organizatigns here, Mr. Thyson at the time of his death was a mem- ber only of the Association of Oldest | Inhabitants. Surviving Mr. Thyson, In_ addition to Comdr. Thyson, are two other sons, Paulus Thyson and H. G. Thyson, jr., and three daughters, Miss® Anna Maude Thyson, Mrs. Willlam Sloan Harrison, the wife of Maj. Harrison, 1U. 8. M. C, and Mrs. Grace Thyson Southworth, all of Washington, and a brother, Thomas Thyson, of War- renton, Va. A sister, Mary Bernar- dine Thyson, a war nurse, died in France on September 28 last, and was burled. in the family plot in Mount Olivet Cemetery a week ago. Mrs. Susan D. Thyson, wife of Mr. Thyson, died four years ago, shortly after the couple had celebrated-their golden wedding anniversary. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 o'clock Monday morning at the residence of Paulus Thyson, Oak- land Apartments, 2006 Columbia road, where his father lived for a num. ber of years.
