re ALLEUROPE STEEL. COMBINE PLANNED Producers in Eastern Nations May Join Western if Rails Can Be United. By the Associated Press. BERLIN, October 14.—The recent- Iy formed international steel combina- tion, comprising French, German, Belglan and Luxemburg steel inter- ests, is hopeful regarding the pros- petts of combining all the European steel industries except Russia, where conditions are not sufficiently clear for an industrial rapprochement. It 1s not believed that the European com- bine will impair America’s predom- fnant position in the world market, owing to its financihl strength. It is understood that negotiations for the formation of an east European steel trust, composed of Czechoslo- vakian, Austrian, Hungarfan and Ru- manian _industrialists, are progres: ing satisfactorily, and that an g rangement with the new trust offers no difficulties. Moreover, the Swedish steel masters are inquiring about the conditions for joining the combina- tiom, Nothing can be said regarding Brit 1sh co-operation, as the report on the Anglo-German industrial conference at Romsey has not yet been made public. All depends on the formation of | an International railway combine, on | which negotiations will open in Lon-| don Saturday. President Mavrisch of | the International Steel Trust is busy | outlining plans for the control of pro-| duction. It is expected in steel .\r[ cles that the combination will be ex- tended to allied industries. SUPPLY ASSOCIATION ELECTS J. A.
