WEST CHESTER, Pa., October 7 (P).—Already having served 43 years in the peniténtiary, Abe Buzzard, 74 years old, again has drawn himself a prison sentence because of his fond- ness for chickens. He was convicted of stealing chickens from farmers in the hills of Korth Coventry Township, and Judge Butler gave him from 18 months to 3 years in the Eastern State Penitentiary and fined him $100. COLUMBUS, Ohlo, October 7.— Probably the most forward step in Ohio toward arresting crime wag taken today by Chief Justice Carrington T. Marshall of the Ohio Supreme Court when he issued a proclamation to the judges of the common pleas courts directing them to bring to speedy trial all persons accused of felonies. Criminal cases must be given préfer- - | ence over civil cases on the judges’ locket, the chief justice declared. The proclamation of the chief jus- tice is unique in Ohio court annals, it being the first time that such an ordeg was made by the State's highest Jjudicfal officer.
