THE ARMOUR GRAIN PROBE Board of Trade Director Hits at Department of Agriculture Action. ~ By the Associated Press CHICAGO, October 1.—James K. Riordon, a director of the Chicago Board of Trade, in a statement criticized the Department of Agri- culture’s action Tuesday' in order- ing the Armour Grain Co. to appear before a referee on October 11 to show cause why it should not be denied the privilege of contract markets because of charges that it had mixed rye screenings with the grain. Mr. Riordon characierized the action as “a cheap political move” and ‘‘a direct insult to the directors of the Board of Trade,” explaining that the directors had sifted the charges and exonerated the company of any willful wrongdoing. “We investigated the case thorough- Iy.” his statement sald, “and we as held the officers of the Armour Grain Co. blameless.
