By the Associated Pre: NEW YORK, September 13.—In- | auguration of an international broad- casting station with station WEAF, recently purchased from the Ameri- can Telephone and Telegraph Co., as a nucleus was announced yesterday by the Radio Corporation of America. The station has been incorporated as the Natlonal Broadcasting Co., the Radio Corporation of America an- nouncad, and active control will be ac- quired on November 15. The Radio Corporation of America is not in any sense seeking a monop- oly of the " the announcement stated. “That would be a liability rather than an asset. It is seeking, however, to provide machinery which will insure a national distribution of national programs and wider dis- tribution of programs of the highest quality.” The programs will through WEAF, and will be made available to other stations desiring them so far as practicable, it was stated. The new company may also lease time from other stations. There will be an advisor uncil for the company composed of mem- bers *“chosen representatives of various shades of public opinion,” whose names will be announced upon obtaining their acceptance. Allen, former Gov- crnor of Kansas, that “the present condition of the Towa farmer is not the result of bad prices, but is the reaction from a giant speculation in real estate” was voiced today by Gov. ! The governor made public a letter protestig to the former Kansas ex- ecutive his view, suggesting, among other things, that while 7 per cent of Towa's farmers are tilling soil that changed hands during the war’ or the subsequent deflation perfod, “land speculation obviously does not account for the disadvantages of the other 93 per cent.” “Something happened to the farm- ers of the United States between 1910 and today that is not explainable on the hypothesis of land speculation in Towa,” he said. He conceded that in some instances land had sold beyond its value, with destructive results to those interested. The governor indicated his favor of the view of two Goxernment agricul- tural economists that “the decline in the relative position of agriculture from 26.7 per cent of the total wealth in 1912 to 20 per cent in 1922 is due almost entirely to the deflation in val- ues of agricultural real estate and equipment.” The letter admitted the purchasing power of farm products had improved in the last three vears. but asserted that agriculture is not yet even able to hold its own because of dispropor- tionate production costs. Finally, the governor pointed out the conditions are not peculiar to Towa among the corn States.
