WASHINGTON, BONDS HOLD LEAD High-Grade Issues Are Firmi But DullfMarine' 6s Are a Feature. BY GEORGE T. HUGHES, Special Dispatch to The Star. NEW YORK, September 7.—Specu- ralls and forelgn lssues re- tained leadership of the bond market at the resumption of trading today High-grade issues were firm but dull. Among the rails Chicago Great Western 4s were conspicuous above 70 and within a fraction of the high of the year. This road has made one of the largest percentage gains in net income of all those on the list during the vear to date. Meanwhile the stock sells on a better than 6 per| cent basis. International Great North- ern adjustments duplicated their pre vious high of 83 ana Missouri Pacific 4s moved ahead fractionally. Both the Junior St. Louis-San Francisco issues sold around their recent highs and Seahoard Air Line adjustments were up over half a point. On the other band, Denver. Rio Grande Western 55 had to absorb a good deal of selling and the price fell below 73. Iii the foreign group buying of Italian 7s was the feature, with a price advance to a_new high point on the recovery, The lower coupon rate Belgian issues were higher. and so were French 7%s, which at 95, du plicated the high of the preceding week. City of Copenhagen 53, sell Ing at 1001;, were at a new high for the vear. Against these advances Ger- man Industrial and Provincial issues were inclined to sag. Saxon Public Works 7s, at 981, were down a point from last week's’ high. Rhinelbe and German General Electric 6s also lost ground. The leader of the domestic indus. was International Mercantile Marine 6s crossing 90 for the first time since the original negotiations for the sale of the White Star Line were broken off. Several of the cop per and mining shares were in de- mand, among them Andes Mining 7s. which established a new top at 106, Granby Mining 78 went up with the There under the leadership of Skelly 6les.
