By the Assoctsted Press. DAYTON, Ohlo., Ji 20.~Trafiic on the airways of the United States is not yet heavy enough to call for strict police supervision, but travel has reached a point where statistics are being compiled on their use, just as they are compiled on highways, railroads and waterways. Compilation up to last June 1, made at the United States model airway control office, Wright Field, Fairfield, Ohio, shows that in 47 months just preceding that date, more than 1,000.- 000 miles had been flown over the airways by army fiiers, with the loss of but one life. Used in Official Trade. clusive. American vlsn. Gyags, ., yy ¥ C. ] of the United States. They are traveled by Gov- ernment planes in carrying officlals from place to place, to convey official messages by personal courler, and to carry dispatches and parcels of gov- ernmental importance. The routes are designated on maps, and at night are illuminated at intervals by re- volving beacon light, By day the airways are marked by signals paint- ed on rooftops in cmn along the route. Originally planes were flown over the airways only from Dayton, New ork, Langley Field, Va. and Wash- ington. Later Detroit, St. Louis, Bcott Field, IIl, and Kelly and Brooks Fields, Tex., have been in- cluded. Planes leaving New York over the airways fly to McCook Field, Dayton, thence to Detroit, St. Louis, Louis- ville, Cincinnati, Dayton and back to New York. Routes of Travel. g Ships leaving Kelly Field, Tex. fiy to Dallas, Muskogee, Kansas City, and Scott Field, where they meet the New York planes en route to St. Louis and then return to Kelly Fl-ld McCook P'Seld pllnea make t? Langley Field, Va., New York, ington and back to Dayton. From July 1, 1922 to June 1, 1926, 691 flights have been started over the airways. Of these, 662 have been completed. There have been 2 crashes and only two accidents to the personnel, resulting in one fatal- ity Forced landings have numbered l!.d.ldaymmlu room and bath, also use of showers in gymnasium. “In the Heart of Everything” ll.ul RIDGE_SUMMIT.
