TS ANSfR ITOBE NANED SOON {egal Aide May SMed to | Position of People’s Coun< | sel to New Commission. : _ 'The District Commissioners are ex- p.cted to appoint within the next 10 a2 legal adviser to. the Pul uumies Commission, a" new office created in the appropriation act lor the present fiscal year. The mew of- ficer will devote his full time to ad- vising the commission on legal mat- ters, at a salary of $5,500 a year. As soon as the new commission is organized, however, the office of legal edviser will be abolished. The bill creating a separate utilities commis- sion, passed at the session of Congress Just ended, provides a people’s coun- sel to perform virtually the same dutles as legal adviser at a salary of $7,500 a year. This measure has not been signed by the President, and even if it had, it was pointed out, the commission would not have béen re- organized until Congress reconvenes next December, because an appropria- tion for the salaries of the Commis- sloners and the people’s counsel was not provided. There have been a number of appli- cants for the new position of legal adviser. While only a short tenure will be promised this new official, the Commissioners explain that it is likely that arrangements could be made to continue him in office as'the people’s counsel when the bill providing for the new utilities commission is signed by the President and_the approptia- tions for salaries are forthcoming. Rendezvous for Birds. The camp is a rendezvous of bird life and is situated on 'a densely ‘wooded promontory, overlooking Os- Lake, one of the smaller lakes in this lake-dotted region. The camp {s reached by a narrow-cinder amd gravel road, which covers the 2 miles separating ‘the camp and the main highway in a snakelike - manner.
