First grade investment issues were dull ahd neglected, although the United States Government list continued very firm. Liberty and Treasury notes, however, of late have moved independently of the first mortgage rails. Erie issues led the railroad group. The convertible “D" 4s changed hands in large blocks. up over a point. This is the one Erie Issue on which the conversion privilege has not expired. The other bonds secured under the same mortzage were moderately higher and there was good demand for Frie general 4s. The best se cured of the Frie active issues, the prior llen 4s, were also active, getting ahove 0. Nickel Plate Merger. Part of this favor could he as. crihed to speculative huving founded an expectation of a revived Nickai Plate merger plan. and part of it to the improved investment rating of Erfe cecurities.
