NEW YORK, March 19.- Patrizio Rizzotti, a young Itallan calvary lieu- tenant of an old Florentine family, is dead in Florence, Italy, by. his own hand, after a brief unrequited pas- sion for Marie Loulse Schreiber, 18- year-old sub-deb daughter of a Short Hills, N. J., silk merchant. Rizzott!i met Miss Schrieber at the home of Mrs. Cornelia Hoffman, in Florence, where the girl has been vis- iting. He sent two letters to Marie's mother In New Jersey. ‘The letters, Mrs. Schreiber said aft- er cable dispatches came about the suicide, were written in “very broken English,” but in them “it was easy to see that he was head over heels in love with her.” Lieut. Rizzotti had been notified that his visits must slog Marie gave him no encouragement, but he spent whole days promenading under her window. He obtajned a month's leave of ab- sence and went to Paris, apparently in an effort to forget. But he return- ed more enamoured than ever. Yesterday he met Marie coming from the house. He took her hand and bade her farewell in his own tongue. One Ukraine peasant woman sold and delivered her husband to an- other peasant woman, who desired a capable helper 'on her farm, and the price paid, wad one bottle of vodka. Another peasant in the sane vil- lage sold his wife to a neighbor and the price was’ 10 bottles of vodka. The latter was obliged to call and escort his new helpmate to_his home. Hoover, jr., at Cambridge, Mass,, Wednesday night, Allan Hoover, uncle of the newcomer, was advised yesterday by telegraph. Mrs. Hoover was Miss Margaret Watson of San Francisco.
