ARLINGTON BRIDGE FUNDS APPROVED House Agrees to $2,500,000 for Continuing Work Next Year. An appropriation of $2,500,000 for oontinuing work on the Arlington Memorial Bridge during the next fis- cal year was approved by the House in committee of the whole Saturday, while the independent offices appro- priation bill was under considera- tion. Representative Wood, R(‘p\lhh(‘dn.' of Indiana, who was in charge of the bill, explained that this project pro-| vides for the construction of the| bridge and the acquisition of addi-| tional land_to provide suitable ap-| proaches. The limit of ¢ the entire project 000,000, of the bridge will be $7.500.000 Mr. Wood explained that it is pro- posed to construct a low level se mental arch bridge with nine arches, the center span being 185 feet long, with the arches tapering off the spans are shorter toward ends. The center span is to be a steel bascule bridge in order to permit the vay for vehicu- lar traffic will be 60 feet. with walks on either side feet wide, making the over-all width 90 feet. Driver of Other Car Not Blamed in Frank Barr Killing. A coroner's jury Saturday returned a verdict of accidental death in the case of Frank Barr, who was killed Friday in a collision between an auto- moblile operated by Earl F. Brindley in which Barr was a passenger, and an automobile operated by Willlam D. Hargrove, at Pennsylvania avenue and Jackson place. The verdict placed no blame for the accident.
