CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., October 26.—Fire starting in the furnace room of the Surber Arundale Co. shortly be- fore last midnight destroyed the com- pany’s publishing plant and the main office of the Western Union Telegraph Co., with an estimated damage of $100,000. Only heroic efforts prevented other bufldings in the same block from burning. The damage to the Arundale Co. plant is estimated at $80,000, partly covered by insurance.
